EMDR & Trauma Therapy: Healing After What Happened
Trauma changes how your mind and body try to keep you safe. It can shrink your world in ways that feel invisible at first constant alertness, nightmares, flashbacks, or that numb, disconnected feeling that creeps in when you least expect it. The hard part is, it’s exhausting. The hopeful part is, healing is possible.
At PPH Therapy, we work with clients across Ogden, Logan, and Salt Lake City who are ready to process what happened and move forward. Our therapists use EMDR, CBT, DBT skills, and other proven approaches to help you feel grounded again and start reclaiming everyday life.
What Is EMDR?
EMDR, short for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, helps your brain “unstick” painful memories so they lose their emotional charge. During sessions, your therapist guides gentle side-to-side movements (like eye movements or tapping) while you bring certain memories or sensations to mind in a safe, structured way.
Over time, those memories become less vivid and less distressing. Triggers lose their grip. You start to feel more like yourself again present, calm, and in control.
Is Trauma Therapy Only for “Big T” Events?
Not at all. Trauma isn’t just one kind of experience. It can come from a single event like an accident or assault, but also from years of chronic stress, caregiving, or emotional neglect. Sometimes it’s what didn’t happen the care, safety, or support you needed.
If your body reacts like the danger is still happening, even when it’s long past, therapy can help. It doesn’t matter how much time has gone by. Your system can still heal.
What Therapy Looks Like at PPH
Stabilize First
We start with grounding tools and coping skills to steady your body and mind. You’ll learn ways to handle triggers and feel safe in your day-to-day life again.
Process Next
Once you’re ready, we use EMDR or other trauma-focused methods to reprocess difficult memories. The goal isn’t to relive them it’s to take their power away.
Grow Forward
Healing isn’t just about reducing pain. It’s about rediscovering who you are beyond what happened. We’ll help you reconnect with people, roles, and activities that bring meaning back into your life.
We work with veterans, first responders, and anyone who’s been carrying too much for too long. Sessions move at your pace, and we take privacy seriously. Our team also helps with insurance and scheduling so therapy fits around your real life.
You Don’t Have to Do This Alone
Healing takes courage, but you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. Start trauma therapy in Ogden, Logan, or Salt Lake City today. Call (801) 719-7737 or book an appointment online.
