Hillary Thornley
Clinical Social Worker
About Hillary
CSW Hillary Thornley believes that people are more than a diagnosis, a difficult experience, or the challenges they may be facing. Her approach to therapy is compassionate, person-centered, and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on creating a space where clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and respected.
Hillary works with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, chronic illness, disability, caregiver stress, neurodivergence, and major life transitions. She has a particular interest in supporting autistic and ADHD adults, individuals adjusting to chronic health conditions or disability, and those who may have spent years feeling misunderstood or trying to fit expectations that did not reflect who they are.
Her therapeutic approach is grounded in person-centered and trauma-informed care and incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and other evidence-informed approaches tailored to each client’s individual needs. Hillary views therapy as a partnership rather than something that is simply “done to” a person. She works to understand the whole individual, including their strengths, experiences, relationships, environment, values, and the things that give their life meaning.
Hillary earned both her Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work from Utah State University. Her clinical experience includes rehabilitation counseling, community mental health, crisis intervention and suicide risk assessment, group work, and supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Hillary believes that the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important foundations for meaningful change. Her goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients can be themselves, better understand what they are experiencing, build confidence in their strengths, and develop the tools needed to move toward the life they want.
