If you’ve been feeling on edge more often than not, you’re not alone. Anxiety can sneak into every corner of life. It can mess with your sleep, make it hard to focus, or leave you snapping at people you care about. The good news is, therapy really can help.
At PPH Therapy, we work with people across Ogden, Logan, and Salt Lake City who want to feel more calm and in control. We use evidence-based treatments like CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy). Both are practical, skill-focused approaches that teach you how to quiet your body, retrain your thoughts, and handle stress with more flexibility.
How Anxiety Shows Up
Anxiety doesn’t always look like worry. Sometimes it feels like your mind won’t stop racing. Your shoulders ache from tension. Your stomach is in knots, or sleep just won’t come. Maybe you cancel plans or keep putting things off because facing them feels like too much.
We see it all the time, in students, parents, first responders, and professionals all over Weber, Cache, and Salt Lake counties. Everyone’s story looks a little different, but the goal is the same: fewer symptoms, more peace of mind.
Why CBT Helps
CBT focuses on the loop between your thoughts, feelings, and actions. In therapy, we look at the patterns that keep anxiety alive, like expecting the worst or assuming danger where there isn’t any. Then, we learn how to challenge those patterns and build something better.
You’ll learn to:
- Spot your triggers and early warning signs
- Reframe anxious thoughts into more balanced, realistic ones
- Face avoided situations step by step so you can get your life back
- Track your progress and actually see the changes happening
It’s about learning to work with your mind instead of fighting it.
Adding DBT Skills
DBT is especially useful when anxiety comes with strong emotions or when your body feels like it’s always in high alert. These skills help you stay grounded when life feels chaotic.
We’ll practice:
- Mindfulness : noticing what’s happening inside you without judgment
- Distress tolerance : using quick, practical tools (like grounding or TIPP) to get through spikes of anxiety without making things worse
- Emotion regulation : understanding what your emotions are trying to tell you, and how to calm them instead of getting swept away
- Interpersonal effectiveness : learning how to ask for what you need, set limits, and say no without guilt
These aren’t just therapy buzzwords. They’re skills that can change how you live, moment by moment.
What Therapy Looks Like Here
Your first session is about your story, not a checklist. We’ll talk about what’s been going on, what you want to change, and what’s most important to you. From there, we’ll choose the right approach, whether that’s CBT, DBT, or a mix of both.
You’ll set goals that make sense for real life, like sleeping through the night, driving comfortably on I-15, or giving a presentation without feeling panicked. Between sessions, you’ll practice short exercises so the skills start to feel natural.
You can come to whichever office is easiest, Ogden, Logan, or Salt Lake City, or meet online if that works better. We take most insurance plans, and our admin team can help you check your coverage before you start.
Results You Can Feel
Most clients notice their anxiety doesn’t control them the same way anymore. They feel steadier. More focused. More capable of handling whatever comes up at work, home, or anywhere else.
Anxiety might still knock on the door sometimes, but it won’t be the one running the show, you will.
